PREPARE FOR TAKEOFF

  1. Prepare your hearts and minds to exercise compassion and respect for the families you will be learning about at Poverty Encounter.
  2. Dress comfortably and wear closed toe shoes.
  3. Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time to allow enough time for parking and check-in.
  4. Have your ticket confirmation information ready and Hold Harmless Agreement completed in advance.
  5. Visit our parent organization’s website, Children’s Hunger Fund, for more information about ways to get involved through Project Food Pak, Project Coin Pak, or volunteering.

FAQs

While the video content and immersive environments are appropriate for guests of all ages, school age guests will benefit most from the experience. Guides are trained facilitators with experience leading tours and engaging in age-appropriate discussions.

Poverty Encounter environments are highly stimulating and realistic in nature. Adults and children with autism, anxiety, sensory processing disorder, claustrophobia or any other special needs should speak directly with a Poverty Encounter team member in advance of their tour to ensure appropriate accommodations can be made. Teachers or parents are invited to walk the Poverty Encounter rooms prior to the tour if there are any concerns.

We recommend guests plan 2 hours for the entire Poverty Encounter experience. The 2 hour experience includes a guided exhibit tour and a hands-on service activity.

Yes. If you are a group leader and would like to book a visit for more than 45 people, please fill out the Contact Form. Note that each tour capacity is 15 individuals, so larger groups will be divided into tours of this size. All groups receive the same experience, just at rotating times. 

Poverty Encounter does not have dining facilities available onsite. However, we can recommend plenty of great restaurants nearby. Please ask us about our staff picks!
