We collect personal information when you voluntarily submit it to us.
For example, patrons may provide us with personal information (such as name, address, email address, telephone numbers and/or credit/debit card information). If a patron, or a website visitor, contacts us by email, they may provide us with their email address, and name. Providing data is required in these contexts in order for us to process your transactions, requests, or respond to inquiries.
What does CHF/Poverty Encounter do with a patron’s personal and financial information? Besides keeping a patron’s personal and financial information safe and secure, the personal information a patron provides, such as e-mail addresses and telephone numbers, is used by CHF/PE staff only to ensure accurate, timely processing of transactions and/or donations. Everything else is kept confidential, and CHF/PE will remove any information from its digital and paper files upon written request of the donor.
How do we protect your information? In keeping with CHF’s mission and values of good stewardship, CHF/PE implements a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you make a gift, place an order or enter, submit, or access your personal information. We offer the use of a secured server. All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our payment gateway providers database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. After a gift or patron transaction, your private information (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) will not be kept on file (digitally or in paper) for more than 60 days, and then is destroyed. Children’s Hunger Fund has been a member in good standing of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability since 2003. CHF is also listed at Charity Navigator and Wall Watcher’s – two leading independent charity rating services.
